Today, I finally received my Daydream tour book in the mail. Words cannot express how excited I am about receiving this item. Any Mariah Carey fan or collector of music memorabilia knows how big of a deal this is. Daydream is considered to be Carey’s golden era in music. This tour book is now out of print making it very rare and hard to find. It was sold at concert venues during the Daydream world tour in 1996. Carey performed a total of seven shows- three in Asia and four in Europe. Surprisingly, Carey didn’t bring the Daydream tour to North America. It could be due to the fact that music critics gave Carey’s Music Box tour negative reviews, but in Carey’s defense it was her first time touring. I wish that I would’ve had the opportunity to see Carey perform live during the Daydream era, but I was only five years old and knew very little about Carey’s music at the time. Daydream was a turning point in Carey’s career. The single “One Sweet Day” featuring Boyz II Men spent a total of 16 weeks at number one on the Billboard Top 100. To this day, that record has yet to be shattered. As a loyal fan, I feel honored to be able to own something that’s so epic.
