I recently wrote a piece for EBONY.com (read it here: http://www.ebony.com/black-history/dorothy-forever-495#axzz2PJugZJGQ) on the significance on Hollywood’s first Black female movie star and sex symbol: Ms. Dorothy Dandridge. And I made a post that showed today’s hottest stars posing as Dandridge’s most famous role, Carmen Jones. So, that got me thinking about another icon Josephine Baker – the first Black superstar. Here are a few pictures of today’s hottest stars paying homage to Ms. Josephine Baker.
Again, it’s beautiful to see all these women channelling old icons that paved the way for them to be able to do what they do today. Let’s keep this up!
I’d like to leave you all with this quote, “It’s always good to remember where you come from and celebrate it. To remember where you come from is part of where you’re going.” – Anthony Burgess
